Caring for your jewellery
Silver and gold are pretty durable, but there are things you can do to help keep your pieces looking at their best for longer!

I like to make jewellery that can be worn every day for every occasion but it's worth bearing in mind the following to keep your items in tiptop condition:

Precious metals can be easily scratched so if you're doing anything heavy duty, using tools, or just coming into contact with rough surfaces then maybe taking off your jewellery is a good idea (obviously putting it somewhere safe!)

Storing items carefully can help reduce scratches too, as well as those very annoying tangles in chains!

Most of my pieces are made from sterling silver. Storing silver in dry conditions eg. no damp cupboards, can help slow down the tarnishing (tarnishing is when the base metals in the silver, i.e the 7.5% that isn't pure silver, react to suphur-containing gases in the air and turn a little brown/black).

Chlorine and salt water aren't great for precious metals and gemstones, and neither are perfumes, lotions, hair spray etc

A particular finish on a metal surface will change over time - a satin finish can become shinier and a brilliant shine can be more dull/matt.

I enclose a small piece of polishing cloth with each purchase and this should help to keep most items clean and sparkly. If you have any something you've purchased that you'd like to be returned to it's original satin or shiny finish please get in touch.
